Though I Know She Lies

Though I Know She Lies

Why was everyone telling lies? The beautiful redheaded model Barbara Wentworth was on trial for murder. All the evidence pointed to her guilt, but lawyer Anthony Maitland was convinced otherwise. Furthermore, he was certain that no one concerned in the case—not Barbara, nor her employer, nor her relatives—was telling the truth. Yet surely, Maitland reasoned, Barbara wouldn’t sacrifice herself for the sake of a cold-blooded killer. And then he received the small note in a labored, childish scrawl: “She didn’t… she didn’t… she didn’t!”
